Because of the topography of the beaches, tide pooling is superb at Sea Ranch. Low tide in early morning or late afternoon when the moon is new or full is always the best.

Creative menu, artsy decor, great wine list.

Favorite Dish: I'm a vegetarian, and when I didn't see something vegetarian on the menu, the chef made a delicious, creative curry risotto with chick peas, tomatoes and spinach. The rest of my family had meat and fish dishes, which they said were superb. I think this is the best restaurant in Gualala.

It's best to stay on the bluff trail on the cliffs above the ocean. If you're tempted to get closer to the cliffs, watch your footing!

No, this is not a winery in Maryland.

Annapolis Winery is a family owned and operated winery in the little town of Annapolis, located in the foothills of the northwest corner of Sonoma County, California.

Take a 3 mile winding drive from Sea Ranch through lush redwoods forests until you reach the rolling hills of this winery. This is off the beaten path in every sense. The owners, the Scalabrini family, staff the wine tasting room themselves, and are delightful hosts.

Oh and the wine! Everything we tasted was excellent. Annapolis bottles a limited amount, so this is a not a wine you will be able to find in the usual mass market outlets.

Pick up a bottle or two to take back to enjoy on your sun deck at Sea Ranch overlooking the Pacific Ocean!
