Seal Beach Off The Beaten Path

Just 5 minutes drive, and a world away. Long Beach is the 5th largest city in California and very diverse in it's things to see and do. Check out 2nd Street for dining and shopping, Pine Ave for nightlife, and Bluff Park for a beautiful beach and old seaside mansions. The Long Beach Museum of Art is located in an old Craftsman Mansion right on the water that offers wonderful views and a nice cafe. The Queen Mary is always an interesting excursion. 4th Street has funky coffee shops and thrift shops. You can rent bicycles and ride along the beach for a perfectly fun afternoon.

The Pacific Electric Red Car Museum in Seal Beach is on the corner of Electric and Main. The Red Car Museum is an actual Red Car from 60 years ago from what used to be the finest public transportation system in Southern California. The Red Cars took beach visitors to Balboa Peninsula and north to Long Beach and even to downtown Los Angeles. The houses surrounding the museum depict the area when the Red Car was used. Hours: Open 1pm to 4pm on the second and fourth Saturdays each month. Filled with Red Car and Seal Beach memorabilia.

Disneyland Anahiem opened it's doors in 1955, and was the first themed amusement park of it's kind. It's a southern california institution. It's obviously commercialized, but it's stil great fun. Should visit at least once. Wonderful and magical for kids. Just 20 minutes from Seal Beach. My favorite rides are Pirates of the Carribean, the Matterhorn Bobsled Ride, Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan Flight, It's a Small World and Toon Town. I have not been to California Adventure, but I have heard that's it really well done and fun. Located on Main Street are tons of old fashioned candy shops, early Mickey Mouse movies, and arcade parlors. Go early, and stay late, there is so much to see. You'll have a great experience.

1313 Harbor Boulevard, in Anaheim. Tons of parking in the Disneyland lot. Remember where you park, or you'll get lost when you're leaving the park.
