Seal Beach Corner Drugstore: Summer Neccessities

by pigletsmom Updated May 14, 2004

    The Corner Drug Store

The Corner Drug has been around for a while. On the corner of Electric and Main, and next to the Abbey. Large old fashioned drug store filled with everything you would need for a day at the beach.

What to buy: This store is more than a drug store, it's a beach 5 & dime, complete with beach towels, souvenirs, kites, and boogie boards. Anything you need for a day at the beach is here, so if you forget anything, don't be concerned, you'll find it in here.
You'll also find bathing suits, sun hats, and of course sun screen.

What to pay: A little more than average because of the convenience.

The Endless Summer: Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie

One size does not fit all!

This is THE place for bathing suit shopping in Orange County. I've been buying my suits here for as long as I can remember.

Popular brand names include: Roxy, Quicksilver, Raisens, OP, Bianca and Ann Cole.

What to buy: Vintage Hawaiin prints seem to be the trend this season. Skip the sarong and spend your money on some beaded flip-flops or a charming straw hat instead.

What to pay: A suit of good quality can cost between $70-$100. I'd pay twice that for anything that makes me look thinner! You'll get what you pay for..cheap suits are unlined, flimsy and will fade and stretch.

If you shop at the end of summer the prices will be lower but the selection will be smaller.

SB Shoppe: Buy 10 - Get 1 Free

    Wall to Wall Floral Shirts

I'm serious...if you buy 10 tropical shirts(not necessarily all at once) your 11th shirt is free.

Many people collect Reyn Spooner shirts since they are made in limited quantities. Shirts made of Spooner Cloth (tm) appear faded which is what sets them apart from the other brightly colored an obnoxious prints.

What to buy: Floral shirts never go out of style. The infant shirts are adorable!
The shop also sell a handful of Seal Beach souveneir tees.

What to pay: Reyn Spooners start at $65 but they will last you a lifetime. Cheaper prints and brand names range from $35-$50.

A sale rack in front of the store is filled with odd sizes and last years prints. These shirts have been known to sell for as little as $5.
