    If it swells....RIDE IT!

Catch a wave and you'll be sittin on top of the world.

At every popular surfing spot there are certain protocol to follow. Check with the folks in the water.. no one likes to be cut off on a wave.

If you are intersted in taking lessons stop in to Harbour Surfboards on Main St. and ask for a reference.

Equipment: Longboards are recommended for beginners since they provide a bit more stability and offer the novice a greater chance of actually standing up. If you plan to stay in the water for any duration of time you should also wear a wet suit.

    Public Tennis Courts

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are two sets of Tennis courts in Seal Beach, and neither are that great, but they will do if you want play a little while on vacation. One set is west on Electric on your right side. A small park, 2 courts and a backboard.
The other is the grammar school courts on Bolsa Ave.
near Seal Beach Blvd. Bolsa is north of PCH. 2 courts and a wooden backboard. You can also take lessons from the local pro at the Oakwood Apartments on the West side of Seal Beach. Oakwood is a private facility which has 4 nice courts.
Must wear light colored soled shoes or the pro will literally not allow you to play.

Equipment: Oakwood Apartments has a pro shop.

    Biking along the coast

by Jtodd Written Jan 30, 2005

Seal Beach has a very limited boardwalk area but you can head south to Sunset Beach and then you can bike along the Huntington Beach and Newport Beach boardwalks for about 15 miles. You only have to deal with auto traffic for about 1 or 2 miles on the stretch of PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) from Seal Beach to Sunset Beach.
