Solvang has the Danish look and feel with the little windmills, and buildings often seen in Holland or Denmark. We only had a flying visit on our Californian bus trip but fell in love with the place. (Only wish I had had a digital camera at the time) We visited the area by coach and did a little shopping etc. Worth a trip if you are in the area.
Fondest memory: The whole look of the place, and the friendliness of the people we met in the shops etc.
Favorite thing: This town is made for walking (eating and shopping too). I would advise picking up a walking map and stroll past the half timbered buildings, windmills, stores, gift shops, and sample the wonderful treats from the Danish bakeries, candy and ice cream shops. You can order Danish food and beer at the many restaurants or sample wines at one of the tasting rooms. There is also the Hans Christian Anderson Museum and Mission Santa Inez.
