You must go to Solvang durring the Danish days to really appericate the town for what it is ... A Danish settlement .
The food and drink is traditional Danish and everyone dresses in traditional Danish clothes.
It is a time not to miss so make sure you plan your trip around Danish days.
Fondest memory: I was in heaven with all of the pastries and coffee houses..... Oh I miss a good cup of coffee.
If you get a chance to get tickets to the Santa Barbara Vintners' Festival in April, you should definitely go! It's held every year at the Firestone winery, just minutes north of Solvang. About 50+ local restaurants and 50+ wineries are there. It's about a 4-5 hour event that runs for two days. You get to sample all the different wines and foods while listening to a live band playing. The tickets are really hard to come by, but if you can, this is one event you DON'T want to miss out on! US$65/person. For more info., check out www.santabarbaraca.com.
Fondest memory: They have these little multiple person bikes that you can rent by the hour. I remember riding them with my family as a kid and having a blast. It's really a great way to see the town, instead of driving or walking.
