Favorite thing: Thanks to 20th century restoration, the Mission Santa Ines has been brought back to life. Relics adorne the interior of this beautiful structure that in 1999 was added named a national landmark.
Favorite thing: Mission Santa Ines was established in 1804 as a center of education for the Chumash Indians population and was also the location of California's first seminary college. Its lands produced an abundance of cattle and vegetables. However, after an earthquake in 1812 and a Chumash revolt in 1824, the college was abandoned and by 1884 much of the Mission was in ruins.
