Solvang nightlife. Well, not much. This is a day time tourist location. At night, they more or less roll up the carpet, so to speak. Oh, there are a few restaurants that have bars that stay open until later in the evening, but mostly by 9 pm, the town is quiet. You would have to go about 3 miles east on Hwy 246 to get to the real and only nightlife in town. The one location open for sure is The Chumash Casino for that late night action at the slot machines, bar, or food. Entertainment is also on hand. So, if you like to party at night, just head on over to the Chumash Casino, next door in Santa Ynez.
Dress Code: Sporty casual is the norm but now and then a few sports coats are noticed.
I was surprised that in the evening everything seem to shut down. It was still fairly early in my book so we went walking around alittle bit and there were only a few souvenier shops open, a pizza place and thats about it.
Maybe for night life you need to go outside the town of Solvang and go to one of the casinos or something. The casino is about 3-4 minutes from Solvang
Much of Solvang does close down early but on Friday nights there are two places that you can have a great time at; Epicurean Picnic, Solvang's new cheese shop, has Friday Night Wine & Cheese Pairing parties starting at 5pm. Educational but more of a fun, casual "happy hour" atmosphere!(see their website for details about which winery is pouring) www.epicureanpicnic.com
Cabana wine tasting room also stays open late on Fridays and Saturdays, I believe as late as 8 or 9pm. Wonderful atmosphere and fabulous wines!
Besides the local restaurants and bars, the town seemed very quiet at night. Practically all the shops closed at 6 p.m. and the streets were virtually deserted. Yet most of the motels had no vacancy signs. After dinner we strolled around town to view the white lights that are illuminated year round. Not sure if there is more action in the summer months. We visited Easter weekend, April 10th & 11th.
There is live music at the Viking Lounge.
You will not find the head banging music you may find in clubs and discos but you will find that is is good music that will not stop you from talking with friends.
(make sure you leave a tip in the jar)
Dress Code: Casual dress is recomended.
Nightlife? What nightlife?
After dinner... just take a relaxing stroll down the (by now) deserted Main Street.... and hear the critters at play. :-) If you are still bored, sleep early (like what I did).... or watch some TV.
