To see Solvang properly is to walk it. That can become tiring. Take a break from the shopping, eating, drinking, and touring around by walking, bicyling, rideon the horse drawn trolley, or relax and take a break in Solvang Park. Green grass, a lovely gazebo and a replica bust of Hans Christian Andersen are found here as well as clean public restrooms. There is a Hans Christian Andersen Park in Solvang but it is not in the town shopping district.

    Hans Christian Anderson

Solvang's Danish heritage is well represented in this statue of Hans Christian Anderson, the famed Danish fable writer popular with many nostalgic Americans. The fables he wrote back in the early 1800s have been very popular in the US. "Thumbelina", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid", "The Emperor's New Clothes", and "The Princess and the Pea" are still well known today.
