Solvang is a small enough town that you can see the most from walking around. You can also take the Honen tours but i believe you get the most out of it from walking around so you dont miss anything.
There are some wlking tours that you can get into or just walk around on your own.

The best mode of transporation around Solvang is walking ~ especially on the weekend when the crosswalks are filled with tourists ~ making driving through town very slow going. The town is small and compact ~ perfect for strolling the shops. There are several free parking lots to park in as well as free parking on the street. Benches are abundant for those needing to rest.
Santa Ynez Valley Transit is the local bus, which has a nice route with many stops throughout the valley Monday – Saturday 7am-6:50pm. Their website information is http://www.cityofsolvang.com/syvtinfo.html.
Solvang Taxi Service is another option but pricey – the meter starts at $10 plus $3 per mile. Super nice family owned business ~ Phone number (805) 688-5900.
Kars is one of three rental car options for the Santa Ynez Valley and the least expensive. They are located in Buellton and are open Monday – Saturday. It’s run by Harold and Harold ~ two great guys. (805) 686-0811
When visiting Solvang, my recommendation is to have a car available so you can see the other parts of the Santa Ynez Valley ~ like Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, Lake Cachuma, and Nojoqui Falls to name a few.

The best way to get around here is to walk.
Durring the summer months the town is to full with cars to drive here and everything is so close you do not even need a car.
