Solvang Nightlife

  • SLEEPY TIME TOWN

Solvang nightlife. Well, not much. This is a day time tourist location. At night, they more or less roll up the carpet, so to speak. Oh, there are a few restaurants that have bars that stay open until later in the evening, but mostly by 9 pm, the town is quiet. You would have to go about 3 miles east on Hwy 246 to get to the real and only nightlife...

  • Not a whole lot of night life

I was surprised that in the evening everything seem to shut down. It was still fairly early in my book so we went walking around alittle bit and there were only a few souvenier shops open, a pizza place and thats about it.Maybe for night life you need to go outside the town of Solvang and go to one of the casinos or something. The casino is about...

Solvang is a small enough town that you can see the most from walking around. You can also take the Honen tours but i believe you get the most out of it from walking around so you dont miss anything. There are some wlking tours that you can get into or just walk around on your own.

We try to take our little guy Bear when we travel. It is nice to know more hotels have become pet friendly. Solvang Warnings and Dangers

  • solvang -- make sure you sober up

Even though wine tasting is just "tasting" and even though it only happens during the daylight hours, TONS of people get DUIs coming back from a day in Solvang. So sober up before you head back. A good idea is to go to faraway wineries along 154 first and taste lightly if at all, then park in solvang and walk around to other wineries and dinner....

  • Saturday Reservations Recommended

Every hotel in the Santa Ynez Valley is usually sold out by midday on Saturday if not sooner. Most of the nicer hotels require a two night minimum stay on the weekends as well. Be sure to reserve at least a month or two ahead for holiday stays as well. Advance reservations are recommended for best rate and room choices.

  • Expensive Cab Fare

Please be forewarned that cab fare is $10 to start and $3 per mile ~ which adds up quickly in the Santa Ynez Valley. The owners of Solvang Taxi are very nice but the price can be shocking at your destination if you are not prepared.

  • The ultimate tourist trap.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Temperatures range greatly ~ up to 50 degrees some days ~ so it's best to bring layered clothing. August & September are the least comfortable months with highs many days 100 degrees plus. Many of the shops don't have air conditioning. The rest of the year temps are nice ~ in the 70's and 80's most of the year for midday ~ and dropping 10-15 degrees around 5pm when the afternoon breezes start. Most restaurants don't have a dress code ~ expecting travelers on vacation.

Photo Equipment: Lots of photo opportunities here so bring extra batteries or film.
