Our final winery visit in the Sonoma Valley was at the Nicholson Ranch Winery, just out of Sonoma town. The winery had a really lovely setting, nestled against a hill and surrounded by vineyards. It did remind me a little of Tuscany, though shame about the nearby noisy, busy road spoiling the view from Nicholson's shady veranda.
We really enjoyed our tasting experience here. Our pourer was very friendly and knowledgeable about wine, not only from the local area, but from around the world. The tasting was only $10 for 6 wines, and as we chatted, the pourer slipped us a couple of extra tastings too. One of these extras, a nice spicy syrah, tickled our taste buds and we left with a bottle in hand.
