Sato Japanese Restaurant: Dont miss the 'Boat for Two'!

by bpwarne Updated Jun 8, 2009

Excellent Sushi and Japanese dishes. Great staff.

Favorite Dish: The Boat for Two. Contains: Tempura, Miso soup, Terriyaki chicken, rice and more. A huge amount of food! Be sure to clip the coupon in the local papers for the special price on this one. It has been there for years and they seem to always run this special ad.

  • Keys Cafe: Fresh California Cuisine!

by cjango Written Apr 11, 2009

The Keys Cafe is a true find for breakfast or lunch. All of the ingredients are fresh and the portions are large. It's very California in the sense of quaint, rustic, and a friendly laid back pick up a newspaper and enjoy your experience kind of place. I bought a photo taken by a local of a gorgeous sunset of Lake Tahoe; there were several nice photos for sale.

Favorite Dish: I had a fabulous bowl of portabello mushroom soup with a half of mozarella, tomato, and greens sandwich. The sandwich had a bit of pesto and the greens were all so fresh and tasty. My husband had a sausage and egg burrito with interesting flavors and large enough to feed two. The smoothies looked incredible as well as the many drink choices.

Wet Willies! !!!: I love Wet Willies!

by LaceyAdkisson Written Jan 7, 2009

Awesome drinks and Atmosphere! Wet Willies was one of my favorite places I went when visiting Lake Tahoe. And you have to try the Wet Willie Cocktail!! We went for my birthday and they really treated me like a star... The waitresses were friendly and the bar tenders were fast! (Thats rare!!) Even though it was crowded we still felt like we had enough room to kick back and be comfortable!! Try Wet Willies i HIGHLY recommend it! :)

Favorite Dish: The Wet Willie was the best drink, it was fruity and just the perfect amount of alcohol!

Alpina Coffee Cafe: Great cozy atmosphere

by bpwarne Updated Jun 18, 2008

The best features of this coffeehouse are the pleasant cozy sitting area inside in the winter and the nicely landscape outdoor dining area in the summer.

Free wireless internet for your laptop or use one of their two desktop PCs, also free.

Favorite Dish: Decent Cappaccinos although on the weak side (so frustratingly typical of California). Be sure to ask for a double shot small cap if you preference tends more to the traditional Italian cappaccino.

19 Kitchen Bar at Harvey's: Gorgeous Views and Excellent Food at 19 Kitchen

by orcoastgirl Written May 31, 2007

We had a very nice dinner here on our visit to South Lake Tahoe the beginning of the month. We stayed at the Timber Lodge and walked over here for dinner one night. We shared a salad which was very good and also shared the Lobster dinner which came with steak, short ribs and we ordered a side of the lobster mashed potatoes. A trio of creme brulee for dessert was very good, also. The waiter brings out cotton candy when your bill is presented.

We were able to catch a gorgeous sunset from the dining room window which was nice, reservations are highly recommended.

Favorite Dish: Steak and lobster, lobster mashed potatoes, creme brulee

We had a very good breakfast here on our last day in South Lake Tahoe. I had the banana pancakes which were perfectly made, fresh orange juice, maple syrup. My husband had an omelette which he said was very good, served with toast and hash brown potatoes. Service is very friendly and the majority of the people in the diner knew each other. We bought some souvenirs here, also.

We had my birthday dinner here while in South Lake Tahoe the beginning of the month. A very small yet intimate dining room. Everything we had was very good and we brought in a bottle of 1996 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon to go with our dinner. Service was professional and friendly. We will return!

Cecil's Steak and Brew: Good Resturant..

by Shihar Updated Mar 26, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This resturant is located in the Heavenly village. As I recall the food was good, however a little pricey than expected.

    They serve steak,seafood,pasta,pizza,etc.

The atmosphere kinda felt like an upscale basement.

Coupon is available in the 'Sunny day guide'

Alpen Sierra Coffee shop: Good Coffee

by Shihar Updated Mar 26, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This little coffee shop was located across the street from our hotel in S. Tahoe.

Since I don't like coffee, the chai was good but has a bit of a kick from too much cinnamon.

The serve bagel sandwiches which were pretty tasty.

The Sage Room has been a part of Harveys Casino since 1947. Great service, great steaks, in a relaxing atmosphere. A little on the pricey side, but if you want something nice...

Off the hook: Second best Sushi in town

    by realde14 Written Jan 12, 2007

If it wasn't for The Naked Fish, Off the hook would be my number one choice for food in South Lake Tahoe (if you like Japanese that is). A bit less pricey than the Naked Fish, Off The Hook has some excellent maki rolls. The Sake list could be better.

    Favorite Dish: Rolls

Naked Fish: Best Japanese in town

    by realde14 Written Jan 12, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Naked Fish is one of the best sushi restaurants I have been to. It is extremely fresh and has some seriously inventive sushi maki rolls creations. The sake selection is pretty good too.

The place is very small so there is a chance that you will have to wait in line before getting a table.

Favorite Dish: There are a lot of excellent Maki rolls to choose from. Check out the daily specials.

Dory's Oar/Tudor Pub: An"English" Pub and Fine Restaurant

by johnaalex Written Oct 1, 2006

This is a kind of "two for one" establishment. Downstairs is the main restaurant area, with the kitchen area in the centre of the building. Upstairs is the Tudor Pub and, as it name suggests, is bar with an attempt to create the amosphere of an English Pub. They do have a good selction of beers from the UK, Europe and local micro brews. However the main point is that the superb food is the same, upstairs and down.

Favorite Dish: The lamb chops and kobe pub steak.
