That's about all we did. The casinos are just like all the others...noisy, smoky and plagued with slow drink service! It's no coincidence that most casinos have slow service--the longer you wait for your free drink, the more money you spend! Leave a Comment

South Lake Tahoe City by AussieKitten We went to Caesar's Casino and Club Nero, which I saw little of due to sun stroke. A warning to those with winter skin and being at a higher elevation... remember to protect yourself from the sun. Leave a Comment Address: South Lake Tahoe City

by spartan Well, you are right on the border of California and Nevada, so on the Nevada side you can gamble. The place that we went to gamble was Harvey's. Pretty nice place with lots of machines Leave a Comment

by smschley For many people in Northern California who want to do a bit of gambling, the place to go is the town of Stateline just over the Nevada side of South Tahoe. This is especially so for those with children who need to provide them a bit of entertainment while they loose the family fortune. Stateline start as a gambling venue occurred in 1956 when Bill Harrah and Harvey Gross opened South Shore's first gaming casinos. Until then it was just an undeveloped area on the way for many to Reno Stateline is home to 6 casinos, MontBleu (formerly Caesar's), Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Horizon, and Harvey's Lake Tahoe, more than 20 wedding chapels and several award winning restaurants. The Lakeside and Bill's cater to locals and low-rollers. Many of the hotels in the adjoining town of South Lake Tahoe on the California side provide shuttles to the casino’s to make gambling as easy as possible Leave a Comment Directions: South shore , border between California and Nevada

Casinos by Tom_Fields Well, if you've seen one casino, you've seen them all. The main attractions for me are the food and entertainment. When I visited Harrah's in 2002, they had a blues concert. It was a double-bill: Joe Louis Walker and Elvin Bishop. The buffets are great. But don't spend all day there. Better to go in the evening, leaving the day for sightseeing. By the way, all casinos lie on the Nevada side of the border, which runs directly through the city. Leave a Comment

The town of South Lake Tahoe sits directly on the border with Nevada, which means of course, that there are many casinos across the border. Harrah's and Harvey's are the two major casinos in Stateline Nevada, just a stone's throw from California. Personally, I am not too big about gambling. But there's a very good reason to go into these casinos: the great views from the top of them. Harrah's Casino has an amazing view of Lake Tahoe, Mt. Tallac, and the other peaks of the Desolation Wilderness from the 18th floor; and of course, it's free. There's also a less beautiful view of neighboring Harvey's Casino, the sprawl of South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly, and the other casinos in Nevada. Leave a Comment Directions: Just across the border
