The links below provide more details about this important habitat for bird and fish. My younger brother once a juvenile felon was sentenced to 6 months probation at the wildlife rescue center, where he raised a golden eagle--his punishment could have been worse! The Rush Ranch can be visited, but it's better to make advanced contact and find out what birdwatching tours or other events are available for the public. There is however an exursionary boat that departs from the Suisun harbor. I couldn't find any on-line details about this, but if you are curious, go to the Athenian Grill and ask around about the boat (see image).

Before or After lunch, it is very pleasant to walk along the Suisun Harbor Waterfront and watch the sailboats come and go. Jet Skis are popular here too. Since this area is windy, bring a sweater, but it's rarely rainy or miserable.

Athenian Grill Lunch 4 more images

Athenian Grill has an outdoor patio that protected from the wind, which has a lovely view of the Suisun City waterfront. We often stop by here for a pita wrapped gyro sandwich, or a souvlaki plate, and a beer on our way between San Francisco and Vacaville, where my parents live. Besides Greek beer, there's also some fresh locally brewed beers available, and there's a short wine list. The menu includes non-Greek food too, such as fried calamari, and there's a kid's menu. Next door is an ice cream parlor. Prices are reasonable.

Favorite Dish: The plates of Greek Food are all really quite good and oriented to the family palate. This isn't a luxury place with high prices, so don't expect a lot, but it's a great place to stop for lunch.
