Deep Springs Valley is located near Bishop. I went out there on a geology class. It has great rock formations and a dried up borax lake.

These sequoia trees are located in King Canyon National Park. Located south of Yosemite, it has the same country except the big monolithic rocks. It is also far less crowded and I recommend it

Home of the tallest trees in the world. A beautiful part of the world. Don't just stay inland for the trees. The coast is wild and stunning.

The weather is not always good in California. When I was there in September we had not a good weather. Near San Francisco we had fog and rain somethimes. But I like the ocean in rain too.
