Wild Cherries Coffee House: You'll go wild over...

by bpwarne Written Dec 22, 2012

Great espresso drinks w/locally roasted coffee beans. Great prices on their hot drinks. Breakfast and lunch entrees, mostly sandwiches, wraps, baked goods. Extremely busy at times. Free WiFi, of course.

Favorite Dish: Try a Cappuccino with a HUGE scone, almost a meal in itself.

  • FiftyFifty Brewing Company: YES - An Awesome Brewpub in Truckee!!!

by FoodieFromSF Written Jun 17, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Award winning craft brewery dedicated to making world class beer. FiftyFifty serves breakfast on the weekend and lunch and dinner 7 days a week to complement their variety of beers brewed on the premise. FiftyFifty also features a full bar, seasonal outdoor seating on the patio, live music, and entertainment.

Favorite Dish: BEER: Eclipse Imperial Stout!!!
This is the beer that put this brewery on the map! Each year FiftyFifty barrel ages this beer in various types of oak spirit barrels such as Evan Williams, Four Roses, and Elijah Craig.

FOOD: Any pizza on their menu!!! This is what pizza should be! In fact, they put the pizza place that was next door out of business because their pizza is sooooooo good. Plus. what goes better with pizza than beer? Need I say more?

  • Drunken Monkey Sushi: Amazing & Diverse Menu

by FoodieFromSF Written Jun 17, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant is AMAZING! By far the best Japanese & sushi restaurant in Truckee. Do not waste your time going anywhere else. The menu is innovative and the food is fresh and always delicious! The head chef, Sam, has over 20 years of Asian and French cuisine experience, as well as extensive experience in Vegetarian and Vegan meals. They have a great sake and cocktail selection. The restaurant recently added a lovely outdoor patio which will be a wonderful place to enjoy an evening during the summer.

Favorite Dish: For lunch: SARU MAKI 巻 MONKEY ROLL - SLAW MIX WITH THAI BASIL, MINT AND CILANTRO
AND SPICY YUKKE YOGURT SAUCE IN RICE PAPER with a choice of the following fillings: Grilled spicy Yukke Chicken, Grilled Serrano Shrimp, Bulgokee Beef, Calamari Tempura, Honey BBQ Pork, Tofu, Garlic, Beets, or Kaiso Veggie . It's only $ 7.25, heathy, and delicious.

For dinner: STIR-FRIED GARLIC SERRANO PRAWNS stir-fried prawns with rock salt, serrano chili, and mixed herbs. These are fabulous...so sweet & spicy at the same time. I crave them. They are a must order when I'm up in Truckee at the Drunken Monkey.

Pianeta Ristorante: TRULY the best Italian food in Truckee!

    by Trippy1 Written May 25, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pianetta never fails to consistently deliver truly wonderful Italian food and I should know as I lived in Northern Italy for a year. The pastas are perfection, all of them! Yummy veal dishes, too. The service has always been very professional, but friendly and the ambience is warm and inviting. Sort of like you were in a trattoria in a small town in Italy.

Favorite Dish: I really don't have a favorite dish. I try something new every time I eat here when I am in town, and sometimes it is on the "specials" list. But I can say that the pasta dishes never fail to please. Generous portions, too!

O.B.'s Pub & Restaurant: Wild West Steak

by KiKitC Written Oct 10, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

O.B.'s is located on historic Donner Pass Road in the town of Truckee, CA. The building itself reflects much of the town's history. It began as a drinking house, where card games and more were offered to the patrons. It then became a bakery, and now houses a great place for a steak and ale. The decor of the restaurant is done in rustic, old west decor. You almost feel as if the horses are hitched right outside the window...minus the smell of course.

Favorite Dish: After riding through all that cattle country to the east, a great steak sounded like a great idea. And O.B's delivered.

OB's: Always have had a great meal.

by Agraichen Written Sep 11, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

OB's has been an "institution in Truckee as long as I can recall coming to Tahoe. The exterior has undergone a bit of upgrade over the years, but the interior keeps it's "rustic barn board" look.

People are always friendly, service is great and the food is consistently excellent.

Whether it's a late afternoon snack of "Irish Potato Skins," lunch on the way to a ski resort or a leisurly dinner, all is prepared to order.

Favorite Dish: Now this is difficult...Snacks, well, the Irish Potato Skins are perfect; Lunch, the beef stew or burgers or chicken pot pie, or...and for dinner, hemmm......steak.

  • Hiro Sushi: More Wasabi!

by Wormily Updated Mar 3, 2003
    Sake Time

This is the definately the best sushi in Tahoe (that includes Reno).
The staff are fun & friendly with their cool brightly colored shirts & caps saying "More Wasabi!" It's a casual, laid back atmosphere. You may have to wait for a seat at the bar where you can watch Hiroshi & the chefs create your mouthwatering masterpieces, but trust me, it's worth it.

Favorite Dish: I'm a sucker for the tobiko, but the rolls are all awesome. Wash it down with a little hot sake or if you are like me & think that tastes like nail-polish remover, a cold Kirin Ichiban will do the trick. Go for "all you can eat" (25.95) & go with an empty stomach.
