Jeff Hafler catered to the Hollywood elite before deciding he had had enough of the city, and moved to the fascinating area of Wonder Valley, located just east of Twentynine Palms. Call Jeff for an appointment and directions. Don't need your hair cut? You are welcome to visit the museum ($5 donation, please).

The SUN RUNNER magazine and Website lets you know what's happening in Twentynine Palms and the Morongo Basin. This fabulous little gem was started in 1994 by publisher/editor Vickie Waite, and has become the leading publication for arts and entertainment in the area. Vickie shares her office with the Wayward Way Gallery, specializing in works by local artists. Call or e-mail her for details!

Chuck Caplinger is an incredible artist who can capture a moment in nature like it was frozen in time. He's originally from Houston, and made his way to 29 from Hollywood. I have several of his pieces; the one I treasure most is titled "Cosmic Coyote." His artwork is very reasonably priced. Call him at the number below for a studio tour.

To the east of town, along California Highway 62, is this nice display honoring the nation's veterans. It appeared to be on private property; but you can photograph it from the side of the road.
