The Twentynine Palms Highway, or CA-62, is a long, straight piece of highway that can entice people to speed excessively. There have been many accidents on this highway, a few of them fatal. There are also many bicyclists/motorcyclists on this route. Make sure to look out for the other guy, buckle up, and be courteous to other drivers.

Although Twentynine Palms itself is safe, there are some areas outside the city that travelers should be careful in. These areas include rural Landers and rural Wonder Valley. Homesteads that stand alone in the open desert can be viciously guarded by dogs and/or guns. Also, meth labs can be found in some of these cabins, and someone unlucky enough to stumble across an occupied one may find themselves in deep. Stick to the main roads when out of town, and you'll be okay.
