Want to come visit me? You have a number of options!
One - get a car. Cars are easiest unless you're trying to drive during rush hour. Rush hour is 5-9am and 3-7pm. Take my word for it: traffic during rush hour is absolutely HORRIBLE.

Two - take a bus. What bus? Any bus. :) Actually, the closest Greyhound station that I know of is San Jose.. and it's pretty.. well.. gross.

Three - take BART. You can get to BART easily from both the Oakland Airport and the San Francisco Airport. Union City is located on the Fremont-Richmond line.
Union City has great public transportation! Although the buses are (IMO) overpriced at between $1.25 and $1.50 a pop, you can get almost everywhere from virtually anywhere.
There are two lines that run -- Union City Transit and Alameda County Transit. Both of these will take you to BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).. our somewhat sorry excuse of a metro. From here, you can get around the entire bay area (with the exception of the south bay). It costs roughly $8 for a round-trip ticket to San Francisco (which beats what you'll pay for parking if you drive!!)
