We took the Bus from where we stayed in North Hollywood all the way to venice beachand back. We had to make 2 or 3 transfers, but the total cost was under $2.00. A taxi ride would have cost in excess of $60.00, so you can see the savings. Man, when you get there, walk or rollerblade or rollerskate or skateboard or bicycle. I saw all of these modes of transportation in abundance. Walking isn't bad, and let's you enjoy the boardwalk at your leisure, and without having to worry about crashing when you want to enter a store. :-) Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

When in Venice... rollerblades is a great way to get around Venice, on the boardwalk and off. Just be careful and stay away from the cars. On the boardwalk, especially on weekends, you may find people doing tricks on their blades or doing some sort of rollerblade line-dancing to music coming out of giant boom boxes wheeled in by the hard-core enthusiasts. You can rent a bicycle. There were two rental shops at the beach in Santa Monica (not far from Venice). They have different bicycles (2 or 3 wheels type). You need to have a credit card or not :). I didn't had credit card and I still managed to rent. Don't get discouraged by it. One of those rental places won't even talk to you if you don't have a credit card. But at the other one (go around and you'll know which one it is) there is this nice guy. All you need is to leave a deposit. It's 100USD which you get back when you return the bike. You can also buy a bike which is about 100USD (at this place and it's used). I don't remeber the ratings because I rented out the bike for a whole day and that was 20USD. They close around 7:30pm but you can return the bike early in the morning next day and you don't pay extra. Remember with the bike you get a helmet and a locker (ask if you don't get it right away because they may froget to give it to you!) Getting around. Best is to move on the pathway at they beach. Its there for the bicycles and no cars there :) but remeber there are fellow users!!!!! so be nice and careful plus some pedestrians walk into it to! Don't run over them! You can't get everywhere by this pathway. Sometimes to get to some places you need to use normal roads. Cars are usually no danger. There are so little bicycles that most (but not all!) car drivers look as if they are affraid of you and pass slowly near you. The only way I could bicycle my way to Malibu was by using the Coastal Highway. It's dangerous if no traffice but you can manage it. You can use bus to transport yourself + the bike but be sure to know how to use those hangers on the bus. I was lucky enough that the bus driver helped me when I said that I don't know how and in that case I won't take the bus. But he wasn't happy about it! Leave a Comment Theme: Bicycle

"B"each by shivan I'm not a sea lover, or a beach lover, and consequently I'm not a beach lover. I love to spend holidays travelling, not roasting under the sun ,even if sometimes I'd better do that. Anyway, when I find a what I can call a Beach, I recognise it, and, boy, that was a Beach with capital "B"! Very nice, clean and not crowded even if it was august 20th. A nice place to stay, but beware the sun. The breeze may let you think it is not hurting your flesh, but it's actually doing! Leave a Comment

Shaq was not there... by shivan Along the market there are a number of basketball fields for private people to enjoy. So many boys there wanting to play or teams waiting for their turn to have a match. Actually I haven't seen champions there, but only people having fun under the warm sun of California. I took me a long time to take this picture and the result is not even among the best. I'm an amateur photographer, so forgive me. Leave a Comment

a new way to get hurted by shivan I first heard of this machinery years ago over the Net. His inventor, a genius whose name I don't remember at the moment, was advertising his new machine not still showing it but stating that it would have radically changed the way people will have intended for "private transport". Maybe he was right and not believed by the mass, and the facts have been that the invention have been released with great emphasis but I never heard of it since then. The first time I saw it again has been in Venice, but seems to me that people have kept it as a toy... Leave a Comment

second seagull by shivan "The hard life of a wanna-be photographer". According to me a proper title for this tip I just bought a new camera with a powerful zoom lens, and I wanted to try to make a close picture of this seagull. So I remained behind the others and started approching veeeery slowly to the bird. Step after step, after step, taking closer and closer pictures. While I was quite close enough, A STUPID MAN passed running close to the bird fearing him. The seagull flew away in no seconds, leaving me crying for anger. It's a hard life.... Leave a Comment

the "mall" by shivan Close to the beach, actually immediately behind it, there is a large area, along a pedestrian road, literally full of shops selling souvenirs for tourists, any kind of food and so on. People fill this area starting from about noon, so don't go early in the morning because it may appear to you like a post-atomic scenario. Quite happy to saying it (being italian and knowing common places about the italian security) BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETS! Leave a Comment

a square by shivan I come second to nobody in forgetting the name of places, streets, squares and so on, so here am I in writing a nonsense here about a place I cannot remember. Formally, the reason that brought me to upload this picture is to show the only square I found along that market-road. Seems to be no one there, and this is actually because NO ONE was really there. I ensure you that in any other place of the road, rivers of people flow endlessly (even poetic!) Leave a Comment
