When travelling in the US, you'll find some of the best beer in microbreweries. Here's a really nice one, right in downtown Ventura. See the casks where the beer is brewed, right behind the bar.
I had the Belgian Ale, my friend has the Hurricane Hefeweisen. Both were delicious. The servers were totally friendly and attentive too.
The atmosphere is friendly and laid back, and they've got a menu too. Stop by for a meal, and for one of their hand crafted brews.
Gimme some action, please. Well, the Bombay Bar & Grill has it for you. One very long bar and a stage make up the entrance room. Stand in line and get I.D.ed and then go inside to the magic of the night. Great Burgers, cold beer and a lot of the in crowd. I was there on a Thursday night and the floor was jammed. Live music and loud patrons cram the bar from wall to wall. More rooms in the bar, one outside patio and another with a stage and dancing, but the music was overwhelming to stay near the stage. Many high tables and chairs line the wall with high patrons. Wow! The joint was jumping. Many of the local crowd knew each other, but a friendly nod or a conversation can be had by all. Open Wednesday-Sunday 11 am till 2am. Happy Hour for those of you needing to walk is Wednesday-Friday 11am till 7pm. Have a designated driver if you are drinking.
Dress Code: Nightclubbing clothes or your dress up casual if you want to party.
While the look of this popular night spot remains the same, the clientele has changed. This is fast becoming a lesbian hang out. I believe that is due to a change of management. Heteros will still feel comfortable at this point. It remains to be seen how this establishment will evolve. The wine costs about $7.00 per glass on up.
Dress Code: Casual to dressy casual. Most of Ventura fits into this category. We are laid back.
This is a great classic dive bar in Ventura. No pretentions here, everybody is totally themselves in a friendly vibe. Surfers talking with yuppies, hipsters chatting with frat boys, barbie gals yucking with grizzeled locals. Everybody is welcome here, and with opening smiles and a cold beer. Ah, the smell of sour beer and your sandals sticking to the floor, a classic dive bar.
Dress Code: dress code, seriously?
For one night only Blue City will perform in Ventura at Wine Lovers Wine Bar! This event will feature Bruce Kimmell on Guitar, Gregory Hillman on keys, Brad Buley on Drums, and Doug Shreeve! 21+ Dancing no cover and get there before 9:00!
Dress Code: Trendy and Casual
A very good crowd of mostly females, Karma will be a decent spot to party in 2008. Clubs named Karma don't tend to last long without an ownership change or name change; its one of the most frequently used club names I've seen, but for the here and now, if you're in Ventura spring '08, this is a good place to go. Nicely designed club with a great female to male ratio.
Bottle service is available here.
Dress Code: California trendy, which means jeans and sneakers aren't frowned upon.
Hush has been my favorite weekend party spot in Ventura. A simple, delicious menu and awesome bartenders make Hush very inviting to the night crowds. Bottle service is available at either an inside booth or an outdoor VIP section. While there are some very upscale clientale in Hush, the past few eeks it has become a bit more ghetto with a negative crowd, but hopefully that will get weeded out with a dress code of some sorts. Saturday night is the best night to hit this hotspot.
UPDATE: As of 2010, Hush was CLOSED. Quite a shame, becuase Hollywood is such a far drive, Ventura Co needs all of the nightlife it can get for the locals.
Dress Code: For as nice as the club is, they've suprisingly been letting the ghetto seep in as of late. T-shirts, wife beaters, sneakers galore. Kind of sucks and I hope they enforce a stricter dress code soon.
Depends on Mood:
Good Music: The Majestic Ventura Theatre
Decent Music: Nicholbys
Bad Music: The Red Cove
Conversation: The Victoria Pub
Sports: The Bench Warmer
Hole In The Wall: San Souci
The Ventura theatre charges for water.
Nichobys is crowded, but best pool tables in town.
The Red Cove is a dive bar that hires loud bands. :)
The Victoria Pub is a pub. Its comfortable.
The Bench Warmer is just a small pleasant.
San Souci is the smallest bar youve been in.
Dress Code: I only go to casual dress places.
Here's the mid-night gang up to no good this evening. From left-to-right, Tiki, Rudy, Maureen, Marc, Ardell, Guy and Stan.
