Cycle the coast!
Bring your bike or rent a bike and go to the end of Main Street. Turn in Emma Wood Group Camp Grounds and you'll see a bike path that rides along the Pacific Ocean. On clear days, the Islands look crystal clear and you can see the dolphins dancing in the distance. Awesome and easy ride!
You can also cycle the boardwalk along Seaside park! Fun times and great photos of local surfers chasing waves!

I have lived in this County for almost 15 years and never went to the Albinger Archaeological Museum. This is a preserved archaeological exploration site and visitor center in downtown area.
There on display is evidence of Native American culture 3,500 years old; Chumash village site, which was settled in approximately AD 1500; the archaeologists uncovered the foundation of original mission as well.
The museum covers archaeological history going back over ten thousand years to recent, the excavations surrounding the museum are of the mission. You will see the stone foundations of two buildings that once housed the Indian workers and the stone foundations of the first church. The first church, or the forgotten church, began construction in 1787, was demolished in 1790, and rediscovered in 1974.

Experience Moments of Peace and Serenity
While on vacation or holiday in Ventura you will probably visit the historic downtown area. After a day of shopping and walking you just might need to relax. One of the best places to do so is "A Secret Place Salon and Day Spa".
Located in the historic Bank of Italy Building owner Trisha Cozzens has done a spectacular job designing a unique spa in which most of the services are conducted in quiet and private rooms.
I can tell you there is a WONDERFUL tucked away room upstairs for manicures and pedicures. A must see for sure!
Various types of Masage (try the Tandem massage for a real treat) and wonderful facials on one of the most comfortable tables are offered. along with expert make up application.
You might want to try a new look, The staff all possess superior hairstyling skills and can transform your old look into a brand new you.
I highly recommend coming here for services, you'll be welcomed, pampered and will leave feeling relaxed and beautiful or handsome depending on who you are!

Here is Figueroa Plaza, Figueroa and Santa Clara streets and, just off of Main Street across from the San Buenaventura Mission.
It is a very lovely park with two gorgeous fountains and it is here where you'll find more of those wonderful murals to see. Plus, there is a park located here also and this is where the A.J. Comstock Fire Museum is.

My Favorite Cowboy Hero's on one wall.....wow!
As you know by now, I love murals. They to me, are so Americana. I just loved this one and it is on the wall of the Winchesters Restaurant at 632 E. Main Street.
There are a couple of more down by Figueroa Plaza, Figueroa and Santa Clara streets and, just off of Main Street across from the San Buenaventura Mission.
If you pay attention they are starting to pop up everywhere. In many of these wonderful historic cities in California. They represent a wonderful story of our past to enrich our future!

Ventura County Fair
We hadn't planned on going. We only ventured down here because I just wanted to take pictures of the lights against the dark sky, but we thought what the heck! It was fun and we enjoyed ourselves a lot! They have this as a annual event at Seaside Park. Really pretty because it's next to the ocean:-)
101 W. Harbor Blvd.
If on the 101 Ventura Freeway, exit onto Seaward Ave turn west and right on Harbor Blvd. It is at the end next to the Metro Link!

Go to C Street over near Seaside park and walk along the boardwalk. Check out the rock sculptures on the beach. There is a man who builds rock sculptures almost daily with was is around. When they fall, they fall. He just builds another the next day. Really cool!
Vintage Petroleum has a world...
Vintage Petroleum has a world famous anticline (a rock formation) that is visible from the roads. There have been several look-out places. This is private property and a oil lease. 3055 West Pacific Coast Highway. The 101 freeway North from Ventura just past the Hwy 33 exit to OJAI LOOK for Highway 1 State Beach exit which is the next one and exit. You will go through a tunnel and come out(exit) heading NORTH right along the beach. The beach will be on your left and make the first RIGHT that you can ( there will be a underpass!).This is a paved road that is goes under the 101 North & South bound lanes. Go straight under the freeways and you will reach a security gate. Stop and follow the directions on the dialpad.( push 0.) That calls a operator. Tell them your name or any name and that you have come to see Paul Roden. He is the boss and a super guy. They will open the gate. Go check in with him or..........Just be careful and have common sense. Because if you are careless 'MURPHY' lives there. Just enjoy the view. Who knows you might even see a OIL SPILL.
