The family took the all day Whale Watching tour with Island Packers in July 2011, out of Ventura Harbor. The tour did not disappoint, dolphins as far as you can see~ 9 blue whales and 17 humpback whales! Wow!!. Watch out if you are prone to sea-sickness, the waters are rough heading out to find the whales...I was quite sick, even with dramamine. However, after the bulk of the whale watching is over, you cruise in calm waters close to Santa Cruz Island, and inside the painted cave.
The boat offers snacks and drinks, with a seating area inside the boat.
Don't forget your jacket! It can get chilly!!

Harbor Village is a cool shopping/dining experience overlooking the Ventura Harbor. There are also some very cool artwork displayed all over the place. This is an up and comer, its seems like it is still light in foot traffic. But it is still very appealing. Unique shopping/dining experience.
Kids love it here. There's boats to look at, an arcade game place with a carousel, paddle boats to rent, an icecream shop, kite stores, wind spinners they can watch, a machine blowing out bubbles. It's nice! Andreas Fish Restaurant serves popcorn shrimp in a big paper plate that looks like a ship. Nice day for kids! More info and photos: Ventura Harbor Village
This collection of tourist shops, restaurants and night clubs is a good way to spend a few hours. It basically a big tourist trap but provides a central location for numeous restaurants. Also on the island is the Channel Islands national Park Visitor's center.
