    LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Nestled at the base of the magnificent Sierra Nevada Range, Visalia's Central California location is an asset to both business and visitors. The city is located 185 miles north of Los Angeles and 225 miles south of San Francisco at the junction of Freeway 99 and Highway 198. In addition, Visalia is located midway between two major air terminals, Fresno and Bakersfield, with affordable airport shuttle service between the two airports and Visalia.

Visalia is the gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and is one of the most dramatic landscapes in North America. At 14,494 feet in elevation, the summit of Mount Whitney, on Sequoia's eastern boundary, is the tallest peak in the continental United States. The majestic Giant Sequoia trees, reaching heights of 311 feet, as well as the beautiful panoramas of lakes, evergreens, meadows and wildlife throughout the Sequoia National Forest and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, are just an hour's scenic drive from downtown Visalia.

    RECREATION AND LEISURE

Year-round opportunities for outdoor fun abound in and around Visalia, including water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, backpacking, boating, kayaking, white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking, camping, and caving, all within an hour and a half of Visalia.

Closer to home, Visalians enjoy symphony concerts, jazz weekends, farmers markets, community arts and crafts festivals, agricultural and dairy tours, mall shopping, antiques, gifts and boutique shopping, softball, swimming, jogging, biking, tennis, bowling, billiards and professional (minor league) baseball. Four live theaters, three concert theaters, a large selection of movie theaters (including a drive-in), and several art galleries featuring a style that is distinct to the Valley provide entertainment opportunities to suit every taste.

  • Free Movies in Historic Theater!!!

    by Animalover-CA Written Oct 8, 2009

I love the Fox Theater and recently they have been having Free Movies and they are really good movies!!!! Alot of times it's associated with a fund raiser but that's kind of a bonus since you learn more about what's happening in the community!

This is a great place to have a date night that doesn't cost alot and then walk hand in hand down the street afterwards and get a bite to eat or just enjoy the evening ...

They even have a web site to check out what's playing !!! www.foxvisalia.org

Not sure what to do on a Saturday night?
Check it out I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!!

    Visalia Adventure Park

by AlexWeyhe Written Nov 3, 2006

The Visalia Adventure Park is a fun and attractive place for everyone and any age. Visalia Adventure Park is 7 acres of Food, Fun, and Excitement for the whole family. There is no admission to the park, the attractions are Pay As You Play. The Old San Francisco Style Pizza at Kritters Buffet is delicious or you can fill your Need-4-Speed racing 45mph at Full Throttle Raceway. Whatever the age, Visalia Adventure Park has something for everybody, 18 hole Minature Golf Course, 900ft Family Go-Kart Track, Lazer Tag, Bumper Boats, Batting Cages, and Assortment of Video And Redemption Arcade Games.

I have an amazing time every time I go. I just spent last night with my girlfriend there and we had a great time. We were at the batting cages and afterwards played a game of miniature golf. Great place to spend the evenings or weekends with family and friends.
