One main concern in Westlake Village is a brush fire. The dry windy air and the hot days of summer can spell more than danger, but pure trouble. The hills and brush that are all around Westlake Village become a fire hazard for the entire community.
So, please don't throw cigerette ashes or butts out of a vehicle. Don't play with fireworks or matches in our hills. We are on constant watch for smoke in the hills. That means trouble. That means where there is smoke, there is fire. Thank you for being careful and caring.
In 2012, we have been lucky so far, but a large brush fire has been on the other side of the mountain in the Pacific Palisades/Malibu area above the Will Rogers State Park. Please, again I ask you, to be careful with any flame, cigarettes, cigars, pipe, firepit, campfire any where in the Southern California area. Our scrub brush mountains go up in flames from the heat alone on many a day of late summer.
