This happy camper is snugly tucked in his sleeping bag ready to hear scary ghost stories.
If that isn't to your taste, try a night walk in the desert where the stars seem brighter and closer. You can play billards, swim in the pool, and socialize in the recreation room at the Yermo KOA, or drive 8/9 miles to Barstow and stop in one of the local bars for a few drinks. There are many choices.
Nightlife in such a remote area brings one closer to nature, each other and oneself.
Dress Code: Desert nights can be quite cool, bring a sweater or jacket.
Calico also has a camping section for those wanting to stay the night or spend a few days.
On Friday and Saturday nights, after dark, they offer a 90 minute Ghost Walk through the town. Throughout the tour, past and present sightings will be discussed--which come not only, from personal experiences of the town's employees and the Ghost Ranger, but also researched, legitimate sightings. Of course, interesting historical information will be included.
Believe it or not, this is a fascinating way to spend an evening!
Dress Code: Casual desert wear accepted.
