I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The desert is a dangerous place for humans.
Before entering it prepare a survival kit which should include plenty of water for yourself and your car and a big sign with the words, 'HELP!' printed in large letters, so planes flying by can radio in your location and you can be saved. Click here, Desert Survival Tips to see The BLM's suggestions and information that you should know before going into the desert.
Entering an abandoned mine is dangerous too! Any turn, may have a gapping shaft. Once the wrong step has been taken, you are lost in the bowels of the mine.
Unlike the explorers in an Indiana Jones movie, you probably won't survive the fall.
However, if you do survive and aren't paralyzed by a million broken bones, there are no ladders or heavy vines to help you climb up and out of the shaft! Not to mention that your 'HELP!' sign doesn't work inside the mine.

As in the whole of the dessert, there can be sandstorms. They are usually pretty harmless and nice to look at. But when they are close to the roads take caution and don't drive in to them to hard, you roadview will be a lot less.
