Degnan's Deli pretty much has the lunch trade in Yosemite Village wrapped up, but that doesn't mean that they rest on their laurels. We had some of their outstanding homemade minestrone with Parmesan cheese on a cold spring day, and it was just what we needed.
This was a little deli inside the Valley. During lunch the deli/convenience store is jammed packed. If you take a number you will not have to wait too long for a sandwich.
My sandwich was huge and very tasty. I got the "Toulumne Meadow" veggie sandwich (less than $7)on foccacia bread. All the sandwiches are named after Yosemite attractions.
Hubby ate pre-made turkey/ cheese sandwich and sweet snacks from convenience store sections.
Favorite Dish: Marble cheesecake
Its pretty much a convenience store that makes fresh made to ordered sandwiches, soups, and chilis. You get a choice of 3-5 different kinds of breads. The prices are pretty reasonable given the environment... $5.75 for a very fresh tasting footlong sandwich. A large bowl of chili was $4.75. The sandwich is big enough for 2 people to split. My gf and I ate there both days for lunch and split the sandwich and chili.
Favorite Dish: The #5 sandwich called Cloud's Rest. It's basically a grilled chicken sandwich with their special cranberry mayonnaise dressing. The chili is pretty tasty too.
Degnan's Deli is a typcal deli serving sandwiches, salads, and snacks. Seating is outside on the covered patio or at the ice cream parlor next door. The ice cream parlor is only open during the summer hours, but seating is always available here during the deli's hours. During the winter, a wood fire is kept burning in the fireplace in the corner of the ice cream parlor, a great way to stay warm and watch the snow cover the valley floor!
Typical deli - The main thing is to get there before 5 in the afternoon. I went there around 7, thinking I would get a sandwich and it closed at 5.
Favorite Dish: Basic sandwichs, candy bars, pop, etc.
