About 2 miles up the very popular Mist trail is Vernal falls. The hike is short but the trail is very steep in places.

Further up the mist trail is Nevada Falls. This one is for more serious hikers only as the trail is steep long and there is no water source beyond the rest stop before Vernal Falls

A good place to aim for a mornings hike.

We took four hours to get up the top and back again to the Valley at a leisurely pace.

Be prepared to get wet in June. You'll soon dry out.

    Vernal Falls in spring/early summer

The pic to the left shows Vernal Falls they way it looks like in spring.

Compare it with the previous tip.

By the way, this pic is not my own. I "borrowed" it for educational purposes ;-)

    Just a long trickle

October 2000 and the Vernal Falls were but a trickle. Being my first time on the trail, I wondered why the last stretch was called the Mist Trail, rather than Cardiac Trail.
