    Olives: Who loves fishies?!

by BeckyL Updated Feb 19, 2004
    The Vanilla King

We had a large family dinner at the Olives Restaurant in the St. Regis Hotel. The ambience was great, the food was divine, the waitress was a little irritating, but it didn't spoil the evening by any stretch. It was expensive: $30-$35 for an entree and $10 for dessert, but I wasn't paying so it was great!

Favorite Dish: I'm a very picky eater and this was one of my favorite meals I've ever had in a restaurant. I got the seared Tuna Mignon. They had just a little sauce and some fresh ground black pepper so at to not take away from the tuna. There was some crab in red peppers, an olive salad, and some kind of Anise tempura thing. All of it was very good, and the presentation was fabulous. For dessert I got the sorbet: raspberry, green apple, and blueberry. The raspberry was alright, the other two were way to sweet for my taste. My sister got the Vanilla Bean Souffle. She said it was really good and apparently they use Tahitian vanilla. My great uncle (the elf in the picture) manufactures vanilla extract and has a plantation in Tahiti.

    Takah Sushi: Underground Sushi

    Takah down the alley

A great locals restaurant - downstairs off the walking mall in Aspen. Sit at the sushi bar for the best experience. Talk to your neighbor and ask for tips on the best food. Two women from Connecticut gave me awesome suggestions.

Favorite Dish: 'Eggs Benedict' - a quail egg (seriously) on top of a cone made from white fish is then briefly broiled. I don't know everything in it - but it was one of the more unique sushi dishes i've had.

  • Some great restaurants to...

    by Large_Bob Written Aug 26, 2002

Some great restaurants to visit! I have to split my vote for my favorite between Matsuhisa and Pinons.
Little Nell and Ajax Tavern are also great. Prepare to spend.
