Aspen's airport is chock full of private jets as well as smaller private planes. But if you forgot to make the payment on your jet, or it happens to be in the shop just now, don't fret... there ARE other ways to get to Aspen!
United Shuttle has nearly hourly flights into Aspen from Denver. If you are driving, 82 is an easy drive from Glenwood Springs (about 3 hours from Denver on I 70).
Once you get to Aspen, there are rental cars available at the airport or a system of free shuttles will take you nearly everywhere you need to go. There is also a shuttle from Aspen to Snowmass and Buttermilk ski areas. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

The best way to get to Aspen is to drive, because the scenery en route is spectacular. The best drive, according to the locals, is to exit I-70 at CO 91 (#195), head south on US24 and then take CO 82 over Independence Pass. This route is closed in winter (approx Labor Day to Memorial Day.) I bypassed this route since I'd heard it was a scary drive with winding roads and sheer drops. As an alternative, and a still scenic approach, tak I-70 to Glenwood Springs and take CO 82 southeast to Aspen. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Its not a means of traveling through the main portion of Aspen, but Maroon Creek road leads to the campgrounds and hiking trails near the Maroon Bells. The road is closed to vehicles in summer, in order to reduce traffic, but there's a bus from the transit center in the middle of Aspen that runs through the road, providing transportation to this area. City buses provide transportation from all areas of Aspen to the main lifts at The Little Nell. City buses also take skiers to Rubey Park where they can board buses to the other three ski areas and down valley. Leave a Comment
