My hopes were high and I was thirsting for a pint of Guinness. The Guinness was great, the interior was perfect, but I hit a bump in the road when I asked who was playing that night and the bartender replied "a Country Rock band" huh? in an Irish Pub?!?! WTF! luckily barkeep saw the look of sadness on my face and informed me they would have traditional Irish music the following night. Joy! They have live music Tuesday through Sunday and Monday is trivia night. Food was good too, I had a ruben with lean corned beef and it was delicious :) they also have happy hour where a selection of appetizers are $3 and you get $1 off pints.

by shohman Right on the Hill, this place hosts national acts. It's a small, dingy place, but it sure seems like it has great atmosphere.

Catacombs is a small blues / jazz club in the basement of the Hotel Boulderado. Nice place. Good music. This is mostly a blues club. They used to have a nice open mic night, but I don't think they do that anymore.

The Fox Theater has some fine local and not-so-local performances all the time. Everything from up-and-coming local bands to the likes of King Crimson. Nice small venue. Bar right inside.
None. Well....okay, you need to be clothed. But otherwise...there's no dress code. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: 1135 13th street 'on the hill' near the university.

The Foundry by Teledude Hmm. Live music is all over the place. The Fox Theatre Fox Theatre and The Boulder Theatre Boulder Theatre get the lions share of the national acts. Both very fine (and small) personal theatres. For techno/Trance/hip-hop generally grooviness clubs go to Soma on Broadway. It's the hippest most urban thing around that even resembles modernity. But many clubs around offer free live music. Dancing clubs have been diminishing to almost non-existence. Brewpubs are always lively. The Foundry is a meat-market but large and fairly upscale. The Oasis (GONE!!!) has great brew and a relaxed atmosphere. My personal favorite Brew-pub is also one of the smallest. Mountain Sun Brewery is a decidedly hippy joint offering live music on sunday nights but has the best beer-Nitro Java Porter! mmm coffee beer-the perfect breakfast of champions. It's located on the ever increasingly renovated East end of Pearl st. For Wine go to Trios on Broadway (GONE!!!). It's nice-a more dressy place-that means CLEAN jeans and no t-shirts. Beer, Beer and more Beer! There are other things to drink but why?
Boulder is VERY casual. Most anyplace you can get away with jeans and a t-shirt and in the summer shorts and sandals are the norm. But wear what you like-be yourself and most importantly-be comfortable. Theme: Concert

If you want to dance, Soma on Broadway and Walnut. If you want to go play pool and relax, the Walrus on Walnut. If you want some margartias, the Rio (across from the Walrus). If you're more into a trendy bar scene, head to the Foundry on Walnut or the Red Fish on 13 St. and Pearl.
You can get away with jeans or trendy or prom dresses if you like. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: All or most of the places I enjoy are on or around Pearl St. When you get up to the Hill, it's more for the university students.
