Breckenridge Things to Do

  • Road Trip

A lot of the ski communities (Vail, Keystone, etc.) are within a short drive of Breckenridge. So, if you get tired of the scenery go check out one of the other villages. They each have their own flavor so it will definitely give you a good change of pace.

  • What To Do But Get Cold

This has been the place for the Midwesterners for years, at least since around 1970 era. It continues to thrive, in spite of some slow times at the start. Ski resorts are scattered throughout Colorado, but this is the granddaddy of them all. Breckenridge originally had financial problems but good pack of snao changes things. A large company bought...

  • Things to Do in Breckenridge

The top five things to do in Breckenridge:1. Tour the countryside by DOG SLED.2. Learn to snowshoe. It's not as easy as you think.3. Explore the town by horse-drawn sleigh. Sorry, no reindeer.4. Ski the average 25 FEET of snow every year.5. Go sledding at Carter Park.

  • Breckenridge Snowmobiling

Breckenridge Snowmobiling Tours take place on the Continental Divide and ride to elevations of over 12,500 feet above sea level. Snowmobiling is a phenomenal way to immerse yourself in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, away from the bustle of the surrounding towns and ski resorts.

  • Stay Inside and Find Comfort

The other part of being on the cold mountain is the warmth of a fire and social interaction of friends in the condo. After hard day of weather beaten face, a warm fire makes the cheeks rosy.

Breckenridge Restaurants

  • Romantic French Cuisine

If an intimate dinner with your partner in a small dim lit French restaurant where everyone is really French, they serve excellent food, and you are able to afford at least a few of the finer things in life, then this place is exactly where you need to head. The staff as a collective team was outstanding, you could order in English or French, and...

  • Get a little G

Came here on a recommendation from a good friend and co-worker. He mentioned that the calzone could feed an entire family and I laughed it off. My 2 year old son and I walked in, and I noticed a couple at the far table each with a calzone, and it didn't look all that large. I continued to think to myself, ok, that calzone is big, but its nothing to...

  • Great food,great beer selection,nice...

Alot of menu selections and our appetizer and pizzas were fabulous. It was a happening place this Wednesday evening and lots to watch on the many tv's. There was a wait list but it seemed to move through fairly quickly. Definitely worth the wait but many 2-seat and 4-seat tables so we were lucky and were able to sit right down. Bring your...

  • Italian Dining

Boasting windows that overlook the ski mountain, this quaint restaurant was cozy and romantic. The wait staff was phenomenal and the bus boy was my fave! I had a tasty lasagna and I also sampled my husbands white lasagna (alfredo sauce instead of marinara with seafood) Both were wonderful. The tirimisu was perfect and the cannolis were decadent....

  • Run Forrest Run.....

Bubba Gump's has a friendly, casual feel. It's a busy, noisy restaurant, not somewhere to have a romantic dinner with that special someone. They have a wide variety of dishes, seafood and other, on the menu. The food has a New Orleans flair. The wait staff is quite entertaining and quiz patrons on their knowledge of the movie Forrest Gump. Lot's...

  • Pretty Good Seafood

A little bit loud for sure, part of the restaraunt is a bar in which a lot of people come to drink at after a long day of skiing. Overall a good place. You get bread with olive oil as a free appetizer if you don't want to splurge for anything else. I had the spice rubbed mahi mahi and it was great, although to cocunut risotto cakes that came with...

Breckenridge Nightlife

  • Decent Irish Pub & good food

Decent pub, with a good beer list, sit down tables, and a good menu. The clientele will most likely be straight from the ski slopes, so it will get busy around 5pm as the sun is closing the lifts. But then again, it may not be too busy late at light as everyone was tired from a long day skiing and needs their sleep before tackling the hill the next...

  • $2.00 PBR All the time!

This turned out to be our favorite watering hole in Breck. It is about as close to a western saloon as you can find these days including an honest-to-god wood swinging door. Good vibes. Not too clean. Dank. Just what we were looking for. Did I mention the $2.00 PBR's? Hah!

  • Live Music Scene

After stopping at most of the restaurants and clubs, the friendly locals recommended this place for the live music and atmosphere. Good music and a fun atmosphere. When i went the awesome Yonder Mountain String Band was playing. No Dress Code

Breckenridge Transportation

  • Take the Van

Many people visiting Breckenridge choose to rent a car when they arrive at Denver International Airport and drive themselves up the mountains. Avoid this temptation and save yourself a lot of frustration.Unless you absolutely, positively MUST have a car while you're visiting Breckenridge, I'd recommend taking a shuttle from the airport to wherever...

  • Denver Airport to Breckenridge Shuttles

If you are looking to rent a car then you should make sure you have reserved far in advance especially if traveling during the holidays. You really don't need one when visiting Breckenridge, but if you are one of those travelers that can't do without one then go for it.If you have a group of usually 3 or more you may want to look into a group ski...

  • Breckenridge Shuttles, Rental Cars &...

There are a few points that visitors should consider when choosing between renting a car or taking a shuttle to Breckenridge. Driving to Breckenridge involves crossing the Continental Divide at the Eisenhower tunnel. During the winter months, the approach and descent from the tunnel tend to be icy and snowpacked even on warmer, sunnier days....

Breckenridge Warnings and Dangers

  • Altitude will get to you!

If you are not used to being very high above sea level- be careful for altitude sickness!! Just be sure to drink lots and lots of water. This helped out a lot, they also sell herbal pills for this at many of the stores in town and lodges on the slopes. You might feel light-headed and get a headache as one of our friends did, and he was out for...

  • Altitude Sickness!

I am from Georgia, so when I visited Breckenridge I was not used to the altitude. I was warned to drink a lot of water before going to ski but I did not take it seriously because I do not get sick easily. After a long day of skiing, I felt too horrible to go anywhere that night. I had much trouble breathing, chest pains, and just an overall...

  • Weather changes

Living in an alpine envirionment, I know that the weather can change quite quickly. In the summer, (we have the best summer weather on the planet) if you like to go hiking to a mountain top, start early in the morning and try to finish before the clouds arrive. Some afternoons have quick thunderstorms blow through and you don't want to be on top of...

Breckenridge What to Pack

  • Ski Rental Location - Main Street Sports

This was by far the lowest ski rental package location that was easily accessible by the web before we got to Breckenridge. If you are internet savvy, this will likely be where you rent from. In full disclosure, I did not ski, but I was a part of my father-in-law's full decision criteria, purchase, fitting, and return. Excellent customer service,...

  • Layers are important here.........

Bring a backpack for hiking! Never forget to bring good hiking shoes. The town of Breckenridge is surrounded by a variety of walks and hikes, to accommodate the beginner to the extremist adventurer. Also remember to dress in layers, it goes from hot to cold to hot again as the clouds pass over. When at over 10,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains sun...

Breckenridge Off The Beaten Path

  • Go Dog Sledding

I would like to first comment, do not be scared off by the price. One of my major concerns with tourist attractions is that sometimes the proprietors cut corners to try to get the price low enough to have people come out. Alpine Adventures handled everything about this trip as professionally as you can imagine. They have over 100 quality sled dogs,...

  • Ullur Fest

In January Breckenridge has Ullur Fest. It is a parade down main street. Lots of fun! Crazy sites included men running down the street in Speedos (keep in mind, it is the middle of Winter) and people skiing and boarding off of a snow jump and landing on a connected trailor bed full of snow....that's the wildest float I have seen.

  • Ask the instructors for advice...

We were quite happy to tackle the blue intermediate runs, however we wanted some idea of which of the Black Diamond runs we should try - the best thing to do is to grab a friendly instructor and ask...... often they would point the way to something just right!Looking at the signs here - Volunteer is definately a blue with mogals at the side for an...

Breckenridge Sports & Outdoors

  • Get Your Gear at Alpine Sports

Skiing in Breckenridge is awesome and there's plenty of places around that will do a great job of fitting you with all the equipment that you'll need. Alpine Sports treated us very well so I would highly recommend them for both their service and their prices.Be sure to check at the desk where you stay as a lot of places have discount coupons.

  • Climb Quandary Peak

Quandary Peak, at 14,265 feet, is one of the easiest Colorado 14er to climb. It is a 7 mile (round trip) hike with about 3500 feet in elevation gain. It is technically easy, but at that high of an elevation, it can be fairly strenuous. I am not an athlete by a long shot, but I was able to successfully summit. The route is easy to follow and has...

  • Downhill at Breckenridge

Hadn't done any downhill skiing for a very very long time. Happened to be in Colorado, and had a pal along who was into snowboarding. The visit turned out absolutely fantastic! I rented all the gear (skis, boots, poles, skiing pants, jacket) as I didn't have any (apart from my leather gloves :). Turned out a bit expensive, but well worth it -...

  • Blue Skies and Snow

Start the day with runs like these and just have a great time. Brilliant snow conditions and quiet runs. The Breckenridge area is so large that you feel quite spoilt! We visited the week before Presidents weekend and it only began to get busy on the Friday afternoon.

  • Great views over the Rockies

This was taken on the best skiing day we had at Breakenridge this year. The two days before it snowed almost constantly, giving us brilliant ski conditions on this day. Part of the group out on the piste.
