Beautiful atmosphere. Great art. A Dale Chihuly piece adorns the the back of the bar. But, don't feel like you have to dress up! The locals hang out here. You will see everything from suits to jeans (mostly jeans). Drinks are great, and the food is good, too.

Alternative progressive art rock. Based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado; This self proclaimed "post toolian progressive art rock band" are an up and coming talent and sound. Still at the grassroots level, and inspired by otherworldly craziness, the band is starting to creep out of the darkness into the light of the human world, mesmerizing the spirit with their unique enchanting sound. Visiting their May 2006 show at the "Dead Ant Tavern" in Colorado Springs - I was impressed with what I saw and hearn and can see a future being woven for this band in the near future. They have a good outlook and a promising future. While I was simply attracted to their show by the appearance of the mystical and rare image of the Elven Star, I was awarded with a nice evening of good vibes. Rating: 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Cowboys is the best country music spot in the city. They have a large hard wood dance floor and a stage for their frequent live music. Most weekend nights they have a DJ from one of the local country radio stations. They also have steak dinners, which are OK, pool, and under 21 nights.
Word is that Cowboys moved from Palmer Park/Academy to Tejon Street downtown and now sport a smaller dance floor.

Hidden in an alley in downtown Colorado Springs, you'll find a small cozy and very friendly nite spot. I hate to even call it a 'bar.' It's a very hip spot that serves excelent martinis and has a nice cigar menu. Nice place to have some good drinks and visit with friends.

O'Furry's has been around for a longtime. It is a "neighborhood" bar on the old north side of Colorado Springs on East Fillmore Street. It is kind of what I consider a rough and tumble kind of bar, but not too rough and tumble. They have music usually on weekends, a large outdoor area with a volleyball court. They have a couple of pool tables. Gets busy on the weekends. They also have a small food menu, They have THE BEST jalapeno poppers in town!!
Visit their website, has all the info you need and their menu.

A new night in the works getting Colorado Springs back into the 80's flair with the amazing DJ Gypsy enchanting all with some of the best of the era. Definitely a much needed new night for the area. A saloon hosts the night that is named after some local history. In 1888 a Colorado City resident named Prairie Dog O'Byrne had a carriage pulled by two elk he named 'Thunder' and 'Buttons'. His infamous partner from the Red light district Laura Bell would race this carriage up and down the very street where this saloon is located. This saloon was established and named in their honor. Established in 1978 it burnt down 10 years later. It was re-established in 2004 by an Air Force Academy graduate as Thunder and Buttons II. It now hosts a pretty popular bar and grill with various entertainment nights such as this 80's night to mark up its calendar for fun and frolick. DJ Gypsy is definitely providing a good draw of music and charm to spice up everyone's thursday nights. I hope this night continues as it is definitely a blessing for the local scene. Looking forward to more fine evenings having a blast to the past.

Running for a couple of months now, and growing in popularity, is a night full of dance and frolick upstairs at the Underground on fridays. Downstairs DJ's TJR, LL Bishop, Tony G, Mike Devious, and Hauss spinning in the main room while DJ Gypsy brings back the old favorites of the 80's upstairs. Seems the main populace of the club on fridays go up to the patio for the fun and dance as this night of visiting and dancing on 5/15/2009, the downstairs was empty and the patio was saturated. DJ Gypsy knows how to bring back the 80's. The night is still growing and young, but definitely a hit for the 80's crowd. I can't really comment on the downstairs or the DJ's down below as the dance floor in the lower level on this evening was empty and everyone was upstairs so I didn't spend much time listening to the djs there. But the top level was top-quality. Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5 for the music & the DJ. 2.5 stars for the location: The patio gets a bit smoky for those with allergies, and the dance space is small. Tip for the Underground - if you move DJ Gypsy downstairs, I think you'd be filling your club night with alot of patrons and a pretty decent bar intake as the dj experience was fabulous and high quality. I'll be back. Overall rating for the night experience: 3 stars out of 5.

Bar V (or V Bar)
19 E Kiowa St * Colorado Springs, CO 80903 * (719) 471-8622
A great low-key bar in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs, off one of the side streets, low light, and tucked in as a cool, dark, art-deco hide-a-way located near 15c and Rubbish Gallery. The bartenders extremely friendly and talented at making drinks, the atmosphere warm and accepting, and everyone friendly. Music during happy hours on fridays until the late night crowd arrives is a fantastic mix of alternative 80's that brings any 80's child down memory lane. This is by far my favorite local hangout. On the weekends they have live dj's with house or hiphop, but rest of the week is alternative selections from the bartenders, such as Ivaldo, with which combination rocks. The martinis as well, especially the Chocolate V, are quite tasty and superbly made. As well, this place has a selection of at least 4 top shelf absinthe to choose from and adds a wonderful ambience to the absinthe experience. This bar could pull off labelling itself a much-needed absinthe bar if they wanted to take that angle. Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

A great new goth/industrial/neo-folk night in the Springs area. Each thursday at the infamous Rocket Room. Free cover, 21+. Medium size venue with a very tiny dancefloor, but excellent drink prices and service. The mesmerizing compilations dj'ed by Blue Girl enchants your soul and puts you at peace. Its a new spin to the Goth/EBM/Industrial club selection in that Blue Girl specializes in new and old school Goth, Dark Wave, Industrial, Neo-Folk, and Pagan music. Its a perfect mixer and evening to start your weekend early or build up your energy for the weekend. My most favorite weekly night in the Springs. Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

DJ Gypsy spinning the retro sounds of the DISCO 70's and Rockin' 80's in the Boiler Room All Night Long. 10:00 pm - 2:00 am; Ages 18-20 $5.00 cover, 21+ free. The Underground's start of a positive trend with a new (potentially monthly) fabulous night called "BackTrax" specializing in the fabulous tunes of the alternative 70's/80's with one of Colorado Springs' hottest DJ's ... DJ Gypsy. The atmosphere was stepping back into the past with patrons dressed up in their 80's attire. The music spectacular, and the dancing fanatic. Fun was had all night long. Lots of drinking and flirting all around. I hope this night stays as it would certainly be a blessing to Colorado Springs. Kudos all around to DJ Gypsy and the Underground. Rating: 5 stars out of 5.
