The creek did not look too crippled; in fact we did not even see it coming into town that I recall. The town is pretty well preserved for all these years, and none of the buildings look like they have burned down and got rebuilt. Much to do is for tourists, and gift shops abound. The museums are worth visits; into the old jail, old homestead and Lowell Thomas are three of note. You also can pan for gold here as a memory of the past when the area was/is pocketed with 500 mines, going for the gold. They got 225,000 ounces over 20 years and then it "panned out" so to speak. The main strip is real nice to remember and find out what an old town looked like back then to early 1900's. I only wish I could find those pictures we took when here. The town panorama if wonderful.
IF I COULD FIND THE OLD PICTURE THAT ARE "LOST" THEN I WOULD SHOW MY SIDE OF THE AREA. MAYBE I WILL RETURN SOMEDAY; IN MEANTIME IT IS WORTH THE TOUR FOR YOU.

Cripple Creek has about 18 casinos sporting such unique names as the Brass Ass, the Virgin Mule, Midnight Rose (my all-time favorite), and Gold Diggers. Gambling is the town's main attraction, but not the only attraction; you can also find museums, scenic mountain drives, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Gold Mines, The Pike National Forest, and even the quiet town of Victor, Colorado a few miles away.
