Larimer street circa 1880 by DJStarr This gorgeous block of late 1800 era storefronts has been lovingly restored.
The block has some great galleries, fabulous restaurants & cafes, funky and chic clothing, and lots of irresistable gifts.
A little or a lot, but browsing is free. Leave a Comment Theme: GiftsAddress: Larimer Street, between 15th & 16th, I thinkDirections: South of the 16th street mall area, towards the west end south on Larimer Street.Website: www.larimersquare.com

Vegetable to use when making Japanese Noodles by tejanasueca This is a very interesting place where you can either go to just browse, or find those special ingredients for your Asian meal. This is the grocery store where my roommate from Taiwan would do all his shopping at; he told me it was as close to home as it would get! Climbing Gear sold at WEU by tejanasueca This small shop just one block away from REI's (Recreational Equipment Incorporated) flagship store in Denver offers high quality outdoor gear for very reasonable prices. Most of its staff are experienced climbers.
It's a lot cheaper than REI, but it's one of those stores you go to looking for deals, and not anything specific. Leave a Comment Theme: Sporting GoodsAddress: 1550 Platte St. Ste. EDirections: From I-25: 20th Street exit. Go towards downtown. Take a first right. Take another first right at the skating park. At the end, go left. Look for the store to the left and the parking lot to the right. If you reach REI, you have gone too far.Website: http://www.wildernessexchangeunlimited.com

the Tattered Cover by caffeine_induced78 The selection of books at the Tattered Cover leaves little of want. The only problem is the volume of books carried is not the best. Perhaps I've been spoiled by the Powell's bookstore in Portland, Oregon. What stands out to me about the Tattered Cover is the relaxed and quiet atmosphere. You can sit down in one of the numerous chairs and read a book before you buy it. They also have an espresso stand in both locations.
You may want to check out the outdoors section on the 2nd floor of the LoDo location. They have an excellent selection of Colorado outdoor guides.
anywhere from 15 to 40 dollars. Leave a Comment Theme: BooksAddress: 1628 16th St. on the corner with Wynkoop St.Phone: (303) 436-1070Directions: in LoDo the bookstore is about 1 block south of the Union Station train station.

Cherry Creek Mall is one of the biggest and certainly the nicest and fanciest mall in Denver. Several department stores and dozens of smaller shops.
Sports clothes, casual clothes, shoes - whatever you want
Pay attention to your credit card limit Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: South of Downtown. I think the part of Denver where Cherry Creek is located is called Glendale.

by DJStarr This shopping street stretches from the Capitol to Union Station. Cars are forbidden, so the only traffic is the FREE shuttle buses that go up & down the street. Fun for sightseeing and for catching other mass transit, too (Union Station for Amtrak, and Market Street Station (17th & Market) for RTD buses and trains. Great place to people watch.
All the postcards, Rocky Mtn. knick-knacks you're dying to take back home. Also, good restaurants (Hard Rock, Maggiano's Little Italy, The Brown Palace, Rocky Mountain Diner (1 block north), to mention a very few. The required stores are there, too. Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, etc.

REI and Confluence park by caffeine_induced78 Along the west bank of the South Platte River is the flagship REI store. It may seem surprising that a company based in Seattle would put the model store in Denver. Colorado is known across the country as an outdoor recreation mecca. Here you can find mountain bikes, hiking gear, mountain climbing equipment, books and topo maps. Starbucks is outside and on a nice day you can walk outside and look onto the South Platte River to see kayakers running the man-made kayak course in the river.
If you are heading up into the mountains you can buy some top of the line equipment here.
Certainly more expensive items. I go to the Military surplus store in Englewood. If it's good enough for the military then it's good enough for me and it's cheaper!
