From time to time, games at Coors Field are ended with fireworks and that spectacular show alone is worth the admission to the game even if you are not a baseball fan. We were there when this happened, and it was wonderful to know that the visitors who spent the least amount of money on admission (us!), bought the rock pile tickets (us!), sat at the nosebleed benches (us!) were the ones who were invited onto the field to watch the show. That was not a special treatment however, we needed to leave our benches because the fireworks were shot off from behind that area, the organizers would not want to have anything happened to the cheap fans who may want to sue for unspecified damage. Being on the field on game day is a wonderful feeling even after the game is already over. Being on the field on a game day watching fireworks is even a better feeling. With the highest quality and best kept grass under your feet or your back, with your body stretching out on the best seats in the house, with hundreds of flaming flowers in dozens of colours bursting on the deep dark sky in front of you and above you, if that were not the best value for a $4 rock pile admission, I don’t know what is. | | | | Hike or Bike at Green Mountain | Tip Rating: | | | | |
Nice area to go mountain biking, hiking, or trail running just 20min away from downtown Denver. The area has several trails for different levels and purposes. The peak of Green Mountain is at 6588ft. Hike up there and get a good view of Denver, especially later during the day.
If you plan on mountain biking, don't forget to bring a spare tube. It is not fun to have to walk in your biking shoes for several miles (I would know!!!) Leave a Comment Theme: HikingAddress: Lakewood, ColoradoDirections: From Downtown Denver: I-25 South, 6th Ave. West, Exit at Union/Simms, take a left onto Union, take a right on Alameda. Go up the hill, once you pass Green Mountain Rd., there will be several little parking spots to the right.

 | | | | Run/Walk/Bike/Fish/Chill in Washington Park | Tip Rating: | | | | |
Washington Park, or just "Wash Park," is located just 10-15min south of downtown, and even though I-25 passes just to the south of the park, it has a very relaxing atmosphere. The park is located in a calm neighborhood and is a favorite location for people living in the area, and other parts of Denver, to have picnic, play sports, ride your bike, rollerblade, run, or walk. It has a two mile paved bike/rollerblade path, and a slightly longer dirt walk/jogging path. There are a couple of small water gatherings with fish in it, play areas, picnic tables, and shady trees.
There are plenty of grills in the park that you can use on a first come first serve basis. However, you can also reserve a picnic area (about $40), and if somebody shows up that have done so, you have to move (personally, there has never been a time where there has been no room even if I didn't reserve a spot).
