    Go For A Beer!

....a few of my favourite things...............

Pug Ryan's Steakhouse and Brewery sort of transcends the "Things to Do", "Restaurants" and "Nightlife" tip catagories, being all three simultaneously (in the evening anyway!). Perhaps VT should introduce a "Pubs and Bars" tip category: that would make my life so much simpler!

The brewery itself produces a range of excellent beers, including its award winning "Morningwood" wheat beer, and my personal favourite the IPA. The restaurant prides itself in prime rib steaks.

As a bar Pug's is lively, friendly, with a good mix of local trade and visitors and with the "Summit Stage" bus stop just outside is emminently accessible :) HIC!

    Loveland Pass

About 11 miles east of Dillon, Loveland Pass is a mountain pass at over 11,000 feet at the continental divide. This is all the water draining to the Atlantic Ocean is divided from the water draining to the Pacific Ocean. There is a parking area on US6 (just off the interstate - exit 216) from which you get great views of the area around. There are also hiking routes that start there. One particular trail starts on the west side of US6 and goes up to a mountain just south of the pass. It's an easy 1 1/2 hour hike (round trip) with amazing views and interesting mountain animals (it's also an easy way to get away from the crowd at the parking lot). It's better to go earlier in the day since parking is limited and fills up quick (in the summer time at least).

    Ski or Boarding

by GeorgiePorgie Written Apr 22, 2004
    Skiing

This town is for skiers or boarders. Bring lots of money because lift tickets are expensive. You can get discounted tickets on ebay or if you know someone that works on the mountain. Also, beer will get you far. You can get discounts on ski rental equipment. The beer bartering system is prevalent at ski resorts. Beer=good.

    Bike Path at Lake Dillon

Dillon is connected to all of Summit county by a network of wonderful bike paths. Paths go completely around the lake. While there are some very steep climbs, there are miles and miles of flat and rolling terrain, suitable for any level rider.
