Hiking in Estes. The improved trails are challenging and still fun.

Equipment: Lovely park with wheelchair accessable trails! I saw several people with different levels of disabilities enjoying the great views. Make sure to bring broken in hiking shoes or boots. I had new ones that I had only worn twice and I had blisters!!!

    Extreme Hiking and Mountain Climbing

    by nphau1016 Updated Jul 9, 2004
    Nate in his element!!

This is an awesome chance to hike up to one of the highest points in colorado and take advantage of the beautiul mountain vistas and scenery. The temperature does get quite cold at night, so be prepared for that. Once you have pushed yourself up into the boulder field, set up camp, and take a rest so you are ready for another ascent to the Keyhole, which contains a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.

Equipment: When going on this trip, make sure to bring along good water/ filter pumps in order to keep yourself hydrated and away from altitude sickness. There are plenty of good water sources along the trail to pump water from. Also, keep a lot of granola bars and trail mix on hand in case you begin to feel nautious or dizzy, this will keep away the pukes.

NEBRASKA IN THE MIDDLE OF COLORADO

    by Rich62 Updated Aug 8, 2009
JESSE KOSCH, OWNER OF 3 NAT'L CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS..
    4 more images

The Husker Nation is everywhere, even in the middle of Colorado. This store, known as "Big Red of the Rockies", has been featured in many newspapers stories and on tv as well. Inside you can find everything Husker: autographed helmets, posters, t-shirts, etc. Of course Colorado fans despise the store and it has been vandalized many times, but it continues to prosper year after year. In fact a couple of Univ. of Colorado sports stores have been opened in Estes in past years, but they have gone broke and closed.

    3 PHOTOS ATTACHED

Equipment: INSIDE YOU WILL PROBABLY MEET JESSE KOSCH, the owner and former Husker. Jesse played on three national championship teams. Amazingly, his father played on two more! They are the only father-son team to have played on 5 national championship teams in the long history of the Nebraska football program.

    Biking

by OlenaKyiv Written Aug 18, 2005
    Me and my TREK

The trail around Lake Estes is very nice for biking. It is not the hardest one, but you'll meet some hills. Also you may go West towards dowtown where shops are and have a cup of coffee or tea. Almost every shop has a place where you can leave your bike to have a rest.

Pay your attention that riding bikes is not allowed in shopping areas. I saw those signs when I left that area, but people were kind to me and gave me a way.
