Fort Collins is in the north central part of Colorado, 60 miles or an hour north of Denver. We were driving from Cheyenne in Wyoming which was about 45 miles or an hour drive. We only did the tour and then drove to Rocky Mountain National Park which was about was a similar 45 miles and one hour drive.
If stopping by New Belgium Brewing for one of their free tours, be sure to have a designate driver. Though you only get four small beer tasters, it equals a pint and some of the beers are quite strong. It's best to buy some for the campground and be responsible on your way there.

Tired of conforming to Shamrock’s time schedule? Do you enjoy riding in your own car and listening to your own music? Do you want to save time and money getting to DIA?
Without bothering your friends or family, you can drive in the comfort of your own car to the airport without paying outrageous parking fees.
This is a great alternative to cramped shuttles which make you conform to their time schedule.
CSU graduate with tons of great references will be happy to help you with your transportation issues to and from Denver International Airport.

Another comparison: After being in Switzerland, the lack of public transportation in Colorado is astounding.
Yes, there is a bus or two... they'll get you from old town to the megastores on South College and back. Honestly, I don't think they go anywhere else.
Nothing to Denver. They've been talking about putting in a light rail system for about 20 years.... not happening.
So if you don't have a car, you need a bicycle, or feet. At least the weather is conducive to these options more often than not. And most streets have some sort of bike lane.
If you do have a bike, also take advantage of the bike paths than run the periphery of the city. They are the most aesthetic option when you have some time (these deserve more space, so I'll write more in another tip).

Transfort is the local bus system for Fort Collins. As this is a college town, taking the bus is a great and affordable way to get around and see the sights!
