Minturn is a town of about 1000 (down 4% since 2000) located at the intersection of Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 24 in Eagle County in North Central Colorado. The town was settled at the confluence of the Eagle River and Gore Creek in the early 1880s. The town was named for Robert B. Minturn, Jr. the Vice-president of the railroad that helped give the town its start. The arrival of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad in 1887 coupled with mining gave a boost to the town's economy and the town grew rapidly and incorporated in 1910.
