What can I say, check out the annual festival in honor of the local Frozen Dead Guy if you really like things that are a bit off from what is considered main stream.
Here's a snip from the Chamber of Commerce page (link below):
"Bredo Morstoel, or as he is known around here, Grandpa in the Tuff Shed, was born in Norway in 1900. He stopped breathing in 1989, but is currently awaiting re-animation at some undetermined time in the future. This is the Life Extension Concept: Grandpa is not truly dead, he?s just waiting until they can fix him and bring him back to life. The concept of cryogenics has been around for a few years."
Right in the heart of historic downtown Nederland, is a 2-story brewery and smokehouse known as the Wild Mountain. While Pork and Beef are their specialty, they have many vegetarian options. Unfortunately I'm not a beer drinker as I hear they have some great hand-crafted brews available on the menu such as their signature Otis Pale Ale, Hop Diggity...more
The restaurant was very close to the major intersection in the town ... right across from the visitor's center. It had both inside and outside eating areas. We chose the inside area. It was small (but with character) and had fast, friendly service. I ordered a calzone which was very tasty and very large. It should satisfy even a very hearty...more
You can't miss this coffeehouse. If you drive on the main North-South highway through town - it will be on the East side. The main coffeehouse portion is in an old 1910 Pullman passenger train car. The coffee is excellent, and the creamer is organic (I forgot to ask about the coffee itself). Inside the car is the original stained glass and plush...more

A health food store in the middle of a healthy place--what could make more sense?
What to buy: Organic fruits, vegetables, juices, and great bakery items too.
What to pay: average price of organic food---not cheap.
Don't fret too much. Before you come up, drink lots of water (not Gatorade or sodas), and don't skip a meal. If you normally drink two drinks, drink only one or avoid alcohol the first day you are here. Adjust to Ned altitude before attempting to hike up to 10,000 feet or more. Signs of High Altitude sickness: nausea, dizzyness, severe headache. If...more
Beware the wind! It can get pretty nasty up here and gusts of 80mph aren't that uncommon. No crime. You have a greater chance of being nuzzled by a large dog than a crime being commited against you. And the weather...in the mountains here it is very unpredictabe. It can go from sunny upper 70's (F) to snowy low 30's (F) within a half hour so be...more
You must first remember this is Nederland Colorado USA. It is not in Europe. Nederland is a funky, tiny little town in the mountians west of Boulder. It is very small. There are a few restaurants, cofeeshops and bars where the majority of the areas people hang out. Bluegrass music rules here and is played live by various local acts and a few...more
