If you want to move here, rent is inexpensive here but it's tough to make a living. The economy will only really support practical necessities like fast food, gasoline, construction, etc. We watched a lot of people go out of business here. As the old joke goes, how do you make a million dollars in Pagosa Springs? Bring two.

It's really beautiful when it snows but driving to or from Pagosa during a snowstorm is not a good idea. It's not hard to slide off the road or get stuck in the snow, even with a four-wheel drive, and visibility at night is a real danger.
