Panera is more than a bakery. They have a menu with sandwiches, panini, and more. They are a chain bakery, other Paneras are in the Denver area. I think that they have gone to other states.
Moving from the San Francisco area we immediately missed sourdough bread, and other types of bread that you would find in Italy and France. We just took it for granted that good bread could be found easily, anywhere. WRONG.
So we found Panera to be a close replica of what we were used to. We go there often in the morning for a roll and a latte. They make all types of coffee drinks, but they just come close to what we are used to in Starbucks. If you are used to Pete's Coffee Panera will be less bitter and not as strong.
The people who wait on you are friendly and helpful, and Panera is very clean looking. They have lots of seating and you can get free internet there. It is a pleasant place to do work on the computer if you need to have an "office' for a short time.
Favorite Dish:
Panera makes a lot of different things. We pick up a loaf of Italian olive bread for take home, and sometimes we will get a sourdough bagette.
When we "dine" in I am still trying new things that they have, so I have no favorite.
They do have pecan nut rolls, which are so tasty.
Still under construction....
Cheeburger is a take off on the old Saturday Night Live Skit featuring John Belushi serving up Cheeseburger and saying, "Cheeburger Cheeburger, Pepsi Pepsi!"
This is not a fast food place. You sit down and they take your order according to the size of burger you want. Then you select any or all of the long list of items to accompany your burger, such as guacamole, salza, pickels, onion rings, and about five different cheeses. They have different sizes of fries and even offer half fries and half onion rings.
The menu also has salads and chicken items for people seeking a cut in calories.
After you order they bring you your soft drink which never has a bottom as they keep filling your glass at no extra charge.
They also feature malts and shakes with approximately 30 different flavors. They use real ice cream, not the dairy queen soft stuff so it is extra good.
Favorite Dish:
I usually get the half pounder. If you eat the whole one pounder they take your picture and you go into the photo album.
So you won't find me there, but lots of other mug shots of people stuffed to the gills.
They have very good onion rings, probably the best in my area.
