South Fork is a tiny town of under 400 (down 38% since 2000) located at the intersection of US Highway 160 and Colorado Highway 149 in Rio Grande County in Southern Colorado. South Fork was founded in 1882 as a timber mill site. Although the number of permanent residents in South Fork is very low, the town is a popular summer residence and tourist destination so the temporary residents are much more numerous. South Fork is a great place for those wanting to ski or snowboard, hike, or just enjoy the outdoors in general.
