    This yearly music festival started in 1988 and has been showcasing top-notch musicians since then. The year-round festival is most popular during the summer months when concerts are outdoors. During the winter, concerts are held indoors. Although the festival focuses on classical music, there are also a handful of jazz, country, and other worldly music concerts.

    I've spent many a summer night enjoying the melodies of top-notch musicians under the twinkling stars.

    This is really your basic ski bar. During the day, skiers may venture off the mountain for lunch or to suck down a few beers. At night, people show up to party. The Tugboat features live music on weekends and has all sorts of video and table games like foosball.

    Hanging out at the condo was funnier than hanging out in town on the night of July 4. Most of the bars were closed. And, it's somewhat cheaper (as the pic shows we had our own supply) and safer not having to drive.

    • If you like dive bars (and some of us seriously LOVE them), the Golden Cue is a place for you! It is a serious pool players bar. The pool tables are the best in Steamboat, and at 50 cents a game, they are a real bargain. Pool tournaments and league games fill the tables three or four nights a week, but if you want a challenging opponent, you will find one here. Good beer, so-so wine, a great jukebox, really friendly bartenders, and fun local residents provide an ambience unlike anyplace else in Steamboat.

    Very, very casual.

    • Located right on the slopes (as the name indicates), this is a great place to have a cocktail (or two) after skiing. I hear they serve up a mean Irish Car Bomb (whiskey shot in a pint of Guninness). The burgers are good also. If it is nice, grab a chair on the patio outside.

    I know there are more bars downtown, but this was right across from our condo on the mountain. Every year we go there are good bands playing here.
