By nature, ski mountains and villages are mostly tourist traps... After all, if you are in a ski town that means you're in a route location AND that translates into few choices AND that's what a merchant needs to exploit tourists. The shops at the base of the ski mountain in Steamboat are no different, so, it is difficult to not be taken advantage of.
My choice for this section of my Steamboat Springs page will go to a restaurant that I wanted to eat at for lunch: The Mediterranean Grill & Tapas Lounge. Now, I love Tapas Bars, so, you can imagine how excited I was to find a Tapas Lounge in Steamboat. After working up a good appetite snowboarding all morning, Action Jimmy and I headed down the mountain to The Mediterranean Grill & Tapas Lounge for lunch. First, the Tapas Lounge was closed for lunch. Second, their Tapas menu (posted by the entrance) only listed four items, one of which was Bruschetta (hardly what I would consider a Tapa). By taking a closer look at the restaurant, the décor seemed stuffy. Needless to say, we did not come back to attempt dinner. In my opinion, The Mediterranean Grill & Tapas Lounge would be a waste of time for those who enjoy a traditional Tapas Bar menu and atmosphere. So, don't get excited about Tapas when you see The Mediterranean Grill & Tapas Lounge sign snowboarding down the mountain.

Surprisingly, there aren't many. In the Ski resort area, there are the t-shirt shops and gift shops and generally stuff you don't need but in the town itself, it's a fairly unpretentious place.
