Views from here inspired the song 'America the Beautiful.' There is an automobile race here every year, though driving up those treacherous roads makes it hard for me to imagine that.

Like walking through geologic history, these rocks were originally laid down as sand along beaches, in riverbeds, or desert dunes. Such a constrast to nearby Pike's Peak.

Train takes you through amazing vistas and Georgetown is a great little town. They also give mine tours, though they weren't open when we were there.

Royal Gorge
The world's highest suspension bridge spans the Arkansas River at a height of 1,050 feet. The aerial tramway offers a wonderful view over the valley, IF you're not afraid of heights ;)

Estes Park has several resident Elk year around and a few herds in the winter. Their favorite hang out is the golf course and it is illegal to bother them, you have to play around them!

Vail is a favorite ski town. All year long there are activities. Skiing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, are some of the fun things you can do in Vail and most other Colorado mountain towns.
