Walsenburg Things to Do
Walsenburg is a town of about 3100 (down 27% from 2000) located at the intersection of Interstate 25 and US Highway 160. The settlement started some 150 years ago when a family moved into the area and established a ranch. In 1870, Fred Walsen (for whom the town was later named) started a store here and the town attracted German immigrants. Walsenburg is the county seat of Huerfano County. Huerfano County was named for nearby Huerfano Butte. The Huerfano County Courthouse is very impresive and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Related to:

Tes's is an old drive-in, dating back to about 1930. The new management has kept its original feel, but now it features mainly Mexican style food, in addition to the usual drive-in fare of burgers and fries. No longer a drive-in, you have to go inside to order. Very popular, and very personal service from Tes, the owner.
